Enhance Your Investment Power with Credit Balance for Leading Stocks

Boost your investment potential with a Credit Balance account, which allows you to purchase more stocks with the same amount of capital. By combining your own funds with a loan from a securities company, this solution is ideal for experienced investors looking to manage their portfolio more efficiently—especially in a rising market—offering greater return potential and portfolio flexibility.

It can be used as a strategic tool when attractive investment opportunities arise, allowing you to optimize the use of your capital, enhance your portfolio's potential at the right time, while still managing risk within defined limits.

Credit Balance

A Credit Balance account is a type of margin account that allows you to borrow money from a securities company to buy stocks, using cash or securities in your portfolio as collateral. The typical initial margin is 50:50. For example, if you want to buy stocks worth 100,000 baht, you only need to use 50,000 baht of your own money, while the other 50,000 baht can be borrowed from the broker.

Important Risk Warnings Before Investing

  • You must maintain at least 35% equity based on the market value of stocks in your account.

  • If equity falls below 35% (Call Margin), you’ll be required to deposit more funds or collateral.

  • If equity drops below the force-sell level (Call Force Sell), the broker will automatically sell part of your holdings.

To use this service, you must open a separate margin account and maintain a required equity level. Existing clients with Cash Balance or Cash Collateral accounts and at least six months of trading history can apply for a Credit Balance account more easily.

How to Open an Account

If your pledged stocks or margin portfolio decline sharply, you may face a force sell, which can further drive down prices.

Margin accounts allow you to enhance your investment capacity by contributing half the capital and borrowing the rest. While this increases your buying power, it also increases risk, as you’re responsible for the full investment value and must pay interest on the borrowed amount.

  • Cash – counts as 100% collateral.
  • Stocks – only approved securities can be used, and margin ratios vary.

You can only trade or pledge stocks listed on the "Marginable Securities" list, which varies by broker.
