Easy to Buy and Sell — Trade Single Stock Futures Seamlessly with SSF Block Trade

To solve the liquidity problem when trading Single Stock Futures (SSF) in the TFEX, we offer a service called SSF Block Trade. This service pairs investors with brokers, thus, allowing investors to trade SSF at their desired prices and quantities.

Single Stock Futures (SSF) are derivative instruments that allow investors to enhance returns and manage investment risk. SSFs enable trading of underlying assets—such as stock indices, individual stocks, gold, currencies, and more—via the Thailand Futures Exchange (TFEX).

What is SSF Block Trade?

SSF Block Trade helps overcome liquidity limitations in SSF trading on the TFEX board. Currently, Bualuang Securities offers SSF Block Trade transactions on 116 underlying stocks. Each stock has a different minimum order size as specified by TFEX: 20, 100, 500, or 1,000 contracts.

Benefits of SSF Block Trade

  1. Profit in both rising and falling markets Thanks to the nature of futures contracts, SSF Block Trade offers opportunities in all market conditions.
    - Go Long when you expect the underlying stock price to rise
    - Go Short when you expect it to fall
  2. Hedge portfolio risk When the stock market is declining, investors can use Short SSF Block Trade positions on the same underlying stock to help hedge their equity portfolios.
  3. Lower capital requirement than stock trading Futures are leveraged products, so investors typically need only 5–25% of the contract value to trade—much less than buying the stock outright.
  4. Lower transaction costs Stock trading fees typically range from 0.15%–0.25% of the trade value, while SSF Block Trade transactions on the same stock carry a fee of around 0.1% of the contract value.
  5. Opportunity to receive dividends (for Long SSF Block Trade only) Unlike standard SSF positions on TFEX, Long SSF Block Trade positions held until the XD date may entitle investors to dividend payments—similar to owning shares on the main board, subject to the brokerage firm’s allocation policy. Note: SSF Block Trade transactions must be executed through an investment consultant, and are subject to interest charges in addition to trading fees.

The minimum contract size for Block Trade transactions varies by underlying stock, as specified by TFEX—set at 20, 100, 500, or 1,000 contracts.
Investors must trade at least the minimum contract size, but do not need to trade in multiples of that number. For example, if the minimum for PTT is 100 contracts, investors can place orders of 100, 101, or 102 contracts, and so on.

When a Corporate Action occurs—such as a Right Offering, Stock Split, Reverse Stock Split, Stock Dividend, or Special Cash Dividend—TFEX will adjust the contract specifications of the Single Stock Futures to ensure investors are either not affected or affected as little as possible. Adjusted contracts will have a suffix added to the original contract name:
  • "X" for the first adjustment
  • "Y" for the second adjustment
  • "Z" for the third adjustment

SSF Block Trade can be placed only through an investment consultant.

No. Investors must close their positions by 4:00 PM on the contract's expiration date.
